Congratulations to Barry Hughes who won Drogheda Wheelers’ first club championship race at Corkagh Park on Sunday morning. The 13 strong field produced some exciting racing with lots of attacks.
First to go clear was Colin O’Connor. He was joined by Lenny McManus and Andrew Watters with the break establishing a lead of 45 seconds at one stage. A trio of Barry Hughes, Brendan McEntee and Simon Jones bridged across to the breakaway and then went clear to contest the finish.
In the final sprint it was Barry who proved strongest winning by a couple of bike lengths from Brendan and Simon.
Many thanks to Gerry for his time today, and to all the riders who took part.
