Well done Gerard!

Gerard at the Cycling Ireland awards ceremony.
Congratulations to Gerard Campbell, long serving secretary of Drogheda Wheelers on his recent induction into Cycling Ireland’s Hall of Fame at the annual Cycling Ireland awards. Gerard is a hugely popular figure in Irish cycling and this honour is recognition of his dedication and commitment to the sport over the last number of decades. Gerard has worked tirelessly not only for his club but also at provincial and national level, not least through his 40 year involvement in the Rás – Ireland’s international cycling race. Gerard has also recently been appointed to the newly established Cycling Ireland road commission. He now joins a very exclusive list of Hall of Fame inductees. Well done on this tremendous personal achievement!
Louth Coastal Tour 2016
This year’s Louth Coastal Tour will go ahead on Sunday November 20th with a start time of 10:30 am.
Sign on venue and parking, if required, will be at Scoil Naomh Mhuire in Donore Village from 9:00 am. All proceeds will go to the school who are making huge improvements and have made their facilities available to us every year free of charge for the Brendan Campbell Memorial Race. There will be hot refreshments on return at the school.
The route (approx 83 km) will be similar to last year’s but with a couple of alterations. There will be about 3 km extra at the start as we are out in Donore this year. Also, since part of the N2 outside Ardee is closed at present, we will have a new return section from Ardee to the finish.
Pace will be controlled by selected riders at 25 kph (to the best of our ability).
It’s always a great day out. Entry is just €20.
Vote for Ger!
Our very own Ger Campbell has been nominated in the “Volunteer of the Year” category in this year’s Cycling Ireland awards. All Cycling Ireland members are entitled to vote, so if you haven’t already done so, please follow this link and vote for him!
